Sengoku Danshi Hana No Ran Chapter 3 - 5

I will start my first post with Sengoku Danshi Hana No Ran Chapter 3 (to 6)'s spoilers since I've been reading this manga recently! And I must apologized for my bad English & Chinese! Feel free to ask me anything if unsure.

Ok for those who have no idea what this Manga is about, here is the summary taken from MF:
With a boyfriend who's an idol on the rise and a wacky grandfather who has a penchant for inventing and Japanese history, Hana's life is crazy enough. Things get even more complicated when Hana runs into a burning building, trying to rescue her grandfather, and finds herself face-to-face with a man who seems to be a samurai from the past...

CHAPTER 3

So she woke up, believing that Ryou would not be coming back anymore.. then Hana went out with the 2 younger brothers and the dog. The brothers were surprised to see new stuff like glass and colourful bras hahaha! While looking at the bras, the brother with bigger eyes (I think his name is called Lee/Li) went missing with the dog. They found him at a temple, he was looking at the Buddha and both brothers started praying. They mentioned their mother whom they thought of as honest and reliable, and wanted to pay a visit to the monk of the temple. Hana asked if the 3 of them are brothers, and they said yes. There are 6 of them, the black hair guy is the 4th son (there are 3 more older brothers), the small and bigger eyes are the 5th and 6th. Hana was taken back by the black hair guy being only 18 years old!!! The 2 younger ones is 17 and 16 (not sure which one is 17 or 16 thou'). Hana thought to herself that they are very young, while she herself is only 17 years old lol!

Next the brothers bought ice cream to eat. They were shocked by its coldness like snow! They enjoyed the ice cream very much, saying they would regret for their entire life if they missed a drop of ice cream hahahah!! (let's refer them as the comedy brothers) She saw a magazine of Ryou, and tell herself not to think of him anymore.

When they returned home, the elder brother questioned them about their whereabouts, so the small eyes brother told him that they only brought the dog out for a walk. The elder brother seemed angry about it and said that their master is now in a difficult situation and the both of them still went out to have fun. Small eyes brother tried to deny but elder brother told him its time to change shift (i think its to take care of their master). After closing the door, small eyes brother took out a box of sweet. Awww I think he bought it for his elder brother but couldn't give it to him since the timing was not right.

3 days passed, Hana woke up and walked along the corridor sleepily and saw the elder brother practicing with a sword(?) Then she saw a guy with moustache and had his hair tied and wonder who is he. That guy asked her where is this place, then she realized that guy was the master who was in a coma(?). The elder brother came searching for his master, and tell his master that they are in an unknown place filled with weird people while Hana thought to herself that he is the one who is actually weird. The elder brother support his master who was about to collapse due to hunger so Hana suggested porridge. The elder brother told Hana that she was being disrespectful by the way she talks to his master (maybe its because of the rather informal way that she speaks) and Hana replied that she don't even know who is that guy (referring to his master), so the master told her his name. (Sorry I don't know how to translate the master's chinese name into english so lets call him XinZhang) Hana thought to herself, is it that XinZhang in the history book?

Next scene, everyone was gathered in a room. The master said he could only remember being attacked by another country/troop, and they were transported to the future by grandpa's time machine invention. Grandpa said 400 years have passed from their time, so they finally understand the huge changes to the world. Elder brother asked if it is possible to transport them back to their time, and grandpa said that its not impossible to return and its not definite to say they can return because the time machine was burned in the fire, even if he managed to fix the machine, it might not be possible to bring them back, and to find out the cause of how the time machine works will take lots of time.

After the talk, small eyes brother was seen by Hana sitting at the corridor emo-ing away. Then the master approached her and asked her to bring him out. He ordered the comedy brothers to stay home. He was like "phew I can finally take a break!" True enough, he was really shocked by the changes in the world. Many people was staring at him as he walks down the street prolly due to his hairstyle and attire. Hana asked the master on how to address him, and he let her decide since its her "time/generation/century", so she called him Mr Xin Zhang hahahah! And they went to a temple.

While Hana and the master is out, grandpa wants the comedy brothers to take the opportunity to learn about the new world. He switches on the television and they were shocked that there is someone in the "box" and then big eyes brother went to lift the television lol!! Grandpa told them to sit still and watch the show quietly. They were surprised that the character in the show was actually their "master" and shout to grandpa that they're lying that guy isn't their master lol!! Grandpa told them to be quiet and explained that its just a show. They were pretty agitated while watching the show hahahaha. Just then elder brother came in asking for his master's whereabouts. The comedy brothers turn to him with tears flowing from their eyes saying that their master was killed!! The elder brother didn't believe it and said that this must be some kind of demonic skill lol!

Back at the temple, the master was staring at his tombstone(?) the elder brother had rushed over and asked Hana what has she done to his master. The master told him that he thought he ordered them not to come, and told him to look at his tomb. Next to his tombstone, there's also 3 others which belongs to the 3 brothers. The elder brother was kinda certain that Hana and her grandpa are demons and asked for their motives as he drew his sword and point it towards Hana, saying that they won't be fooled by them.

CHAPTER 4

Elder brother was about to slash Hana when he was stopped by his younger brothers. Elder brother was furious and said that their (Hana and grandpa) motive is to bring their guards down and then attack them, because she is lying to them. Next, Hana took a pail of water and splashed it at the brothers, saying that she didn’t lie to them, and that even though they don’t know a thing (about this world?), he still suspect and intimidate her. She suddenly became so mad that the veins in her eyes seems like they are about to burst LOL! She exclaims that he is the worse and should do something with his sword because it’s illegal (to use it against people? I don’t really understand this part sorry that my Chinese isn’t good but I roughly get the idea). She ran out afterwards and the elder brother just kept staring at her direction. The master was laughing because it’s the first time he has seen someone using water to splash at other people, and he asked the elder brother if he thinks that Hana is someone whom he is able to treat as an opponent.

Hana was sitting at a bench outside a store, unable to believe that she actually used a pail of water to splash at someone, but also thinks that he deserves it as he was too horrible, because he really drew his sword once he said he wants to kill her, and besides, lying this kind of matter… she suddenly thought of Ryou because she was not certain if he really did lied to her, and she doesn’t want to believe it. Just then, someone approach her (should be the store owner), saying that she shouldn’t sit on other people’s benches because it will be troublesome for him, the benches are only for customers (Wth! She might be a potential customer right! This store owner really doesn’t know how powerful word-of-mouth can be.) and I supposed he wanted to tell her to get going but just then he saw the elder brother from a distance drawing his sword and they started running for their lives. The elder brother managed to grab hold of Hana’s hand and told her that he was ordered by his master to bring her back because they need her help to solve this unclear situation that they’re in. Hana started screaming at him that anyone will run if they see him behaving this way, besides, it’s a crime in this century to be holding a sword in public. The store owner was already calling the police lol!

When Hana was brought back, the master apologized to her saying that it’s because the elder brother part of his household (?) that is why the responsibility (in apologizing?) lies in him. Small eyes brother appeared to be missing while chasing after Hana and they decided to find him. Hana thought that the elder brother seemed like he has changed to another person (prolly due to the way he speaks, more gentle?) and the master said that he was like this all along; he is always calm and often expressionless, no matter what he do, he tries his best, and is a very capable man. (More or less the meaning is there, the master must have thought very highly of the elder brother). Before they search for the small eyes brother, the master warned Hana to be careful as the elder brother might take revenge on her because he’s that kind of person (revengeful).

The scene changes to the small eyes brother getting lost. He couldn’t find the temple. Just then a granny was carrying a load of things and asked for his help to carry them. While carrying the plastic bags for her, he asked for the temple directions, but it seems like the granny do not know where is it.

The sun was setting and he started getting panic, while the rest continue to search for him. They went back home thinking that he might have found his way back but they were wrong. Hana asked if it’s alright because he didn’t have any money with him, and hopes that he didn’t get involved in an accident. She suggested to grandpa to make a police report but grandpa said it would be troublesome to involve the police into this matter. Then they realized that the dog is wearing a collar which has GPS, and the dog brought them to this festival where it is crowded with many people. They finally found small eyes brother with some older aged women (dragging him against his will?!). Small eyes brother apologized to them and grandpa says it’s ok. And even though he was really hungry, he didn’t eat the box of sweets he got for his elder brother, and presented it to him, while the elder brother was wondering what is it. So sweet of him!!

Hana and the comedy brothers found a fish catching game in one of the festive booths. However, she failed at catching it. She turned and the elder brother was standing right behind her (emitting some dark aura), so she think this must be the reason why she failed to catch the fishes. Then the elder brother started saying something sarcastic like she didn’t win anything and her hands are empty (something like that). She asked him if he’s not satisfied with something, does he hate her so much? He replied, “I hate you? I’ve never think of hating you this kind of matter. But if you are a threat to my master, I would not care whether you’re hateful.” (he prolly meant that he would have killed her if she is a threat to his master.) Hana was like shocked that his master is his first priority no matter what he do.

The master told the elder brother to let them relax and the elder brother also said the same thing (weird). The both of them walked up to a hill(?) where they can see the town/city and the master mentioned that in this place, there are many things that they have not seen and heard of before, and then he rephrased himself, “No, we do not understand anything here! We want to know more things; we just want to see the world...”

Scene changes to Ryou like finally!! (In Tokyo) Ryou was lying on a sofa saying that he feels tired and kind of complained about a director. A female show up, which I’m certain that she is his manager, reminds him about his work the next morning. It seems like his work schedule is very packed… and Ryou just replied yes, yes, yes. Think he wants her to stop the nagging. The manager asked him did Hana turned up at the previous promotional activity, he replied uh. That the manager started poking(?) or touching(?) his face with her nail, saying that she (Hana) still haven’t given up. Ryou slaps her hand away and shouts at the manager that even though Hana came, but didn’t treat him as a partner (I’m seriously confused, but I think it’s because he still likes Hana and had some agreement with the manager like not being allowed to see her or something), is it enough if the future remains like that? The manager walks out and said in a sarcastic tone that it’s scary. Ryou blushes at the thought of Hana.

End of chapter 4.

CHAPTER 5

I think elder brother’s name is Sen, so let’s call him that. The chapter starts off with the people from the past watching the television attentively. They were watching a romantic show where the male lead was kissing the female lead’s hand, small eyes brother was covering his eyes LOL and said this kind of intimate actions should not be displayed in public, while the master asked Hana if she could get him the clothes that the male lead was wearing (looks like tuxedo to me), and she was like in a difficult situation not knowing what to answer. Small eyes brother was still covering his eyes and blushing away, then the commercial start showing and he was disappointed because the show was at its climax! xD

The TV started showing bullet trains and grandpa explains to them that the train can travel at 300-320km/hour which is around 8 times faster than a horse, which they find it hard to believe, and they’re going to experience it the next day since they’re returning to Tokyo. (Possibility of seeing Ryou?!) The TV started advertising a drama that Ryou had acted in, and big eyes brother was standing right in front of the TV looking at Ryou, blocking everyone’s view (I would’ve asked him if he grew up eating glass -.-) Big eyes brother remembers that Ryou was the person that Hana was waiting for the other day, small eyes brother asked if it’s the day when Hana came home crying. Grandpa said that Ryou is a traitor, he betrayed Hana and her aunt. After saying that, all 4 of them became alert (I think the word traitor or betrayer is a very serious matter for them), and grandpa explains that the position that Ryou has attained today is because of the aunt and Hana, and he can’t forgive Ryou and wants to take back…. Just then, Hana came into the room and saw the TV showing some girl running with a dog (phew lucky the advertisement of Ryou end at the right time!), and she asked take back what thing? Nobody answers lol.

The next day, they were preparing to head to the train station. Everyone entered the mini van except Sen. He was reluctant to enter the van as he thought of it as a weird carton/box. But in the end he still got on the van. At the train station, big eyes brother was really surprised by how the gates worked. He wanted to use his ticket again to re-enter but was stopped by Hana lol! They happily entered the train while Sen was the last person again. He asked Hana if the train can really go 8 times faster than a horse, and Hana asked if he’s scared and assures him that the bullet train is the safest mode of transportation. He suddenly collapsed and his face turned green, Hana tried to support him and grandpa told her to hurry get in the train, but the doors of the train closed! And the train left without Sen and Hana!

The scene changes to Sen coming out of the gents (think he went to vomit) and Hana was waiting for him outside, talking on the phone (must be grandpa). She gave him pills to prevent him from getting motion sickness and he obediently swallowed it. Hana was thinking that the atmosphere was really bad (awkward) since there’s only the 2 of them, and said it would be better if he had mentioned that he has motion sickness earlier, but he didn’t reply which caused the atmosphere to be even worse! He finally speaks, saying that he is in control while riding a horse, but getting on a vehicle a difference thing, and it goes the same for elevators; it feels uncomfortable. He asked Hana if she is satisfied with his explanation, which she felt apologetic. Hana thought to herself that Sen is rather hard to handle, and tell him that she had already contact with grandpa. Sen suddenly stands up and said that he must hurry to get back to his master’s side and almost collapse again lol. He lies on Hana’s laps(!!) and tells her that he will sleep for awhile. Hana started “sweating” badly, she couldn’t believe that even though Sen treats her as a liar, he still managed to sleep peacefully on her lap!

Many people were staring at her (cause of Sen’s actions?) and she doesn’t know what to do. She looks at Sen’s face features and realized that his eyelashes are long and his nose is sharp, and suddenly had the idea of touching his face!! She kept telling herself no but her finger still reach out for his face, thinking that he looks like a mannequin. The phone rings and she jumps. Grandpa called and she told him that they’re resting. Sen wakes up with his eyes staring at Hana, asking if its master who called. Hana told him that his master wants to speak to him, and he replied yes, turning left and right in search for his master LOL!!! Hana explains to him that there is a microphone inside the mobile phone which I doubt he understands. He picks the phone and communicates to his master in a rather excited manner. Hana told him she will get them drinks while he speaks to his master, and bang onto someone while walking. She immediately apologizes and that man turned around. It’s RYOU!!

He was like “Hana?” and Hana saying “Ryou…” (Nice timing) She was thinking what to say, because she should have plenty of things to ask him but now she is lost for words. The both of them started talking at the same timing and Ryou apologizes, allowing Hana to speak first. Hana: “I was taken aback by you changing company. But why didn’t you tell me about it?” Ryou: “I’m sorry. It’s because I couldn’t make up my mind whether to tell you about it. However, this is my problem. I’ve decided to do what I like, and I will not return.” Hana feels that she is not needed anymore. Ryou continued, “Your aunt’s company is too small, therefore entering a big company is necessary, otherwise being a big shot in this industry is out of the question. Truth is, after joining S PRO, I got hold of drama projects/works, and in the future, not only will I get more drama projects/works, but also movie projects/works!” After hearing those words, Hana felt like crying. Looking at her expression, Ryou also feels sad and wanted to comfort her by patting on her head (?) When Ryou’s hand is about to reach her, Sen slaps his hand away (!!!), and tells him that Ryou do not have the rights to touch her. Ryou with his expression like he couldn’t believe it, said “Haa, now you’ve learned to lie to others, always putting on an innocent act, and you’ve gotten yourself a new boyfriend in such a short time.” Hana: “What’d you said..” Ryou: “I’ve already seen everything (meaning Sen sleeping on her lap), what because of the past where you’ve been hurt by men? I’m the one who have always been deceived.” Hana tries to defend herself, while Sen pulls her towards him and said “That was just a pillow (referring to him resting his head on her lap). The reason why I came over (why he entered their conversation between Ryou & Hana) is because Hana helped us. It is all because she was betrayed by a heartless guy which is why she is feeling so frustrated.” Ryou was rather taken aback by what Sen had said and thought that Sen is a new recruit of her aunt’s company (what a silly conclusion!), and was not happy when he saw Sen “hugging” Hana’s shoulders tightly. Sen notices Ryou’s displeasure over his actions and said that even if Ryou doesn’t want Hana anymore, he still don’t like it if other man touches her? Ryou was shocked by his words, and Sen continues saying that he shall do what Ryou dislikes by covering Hana’s mouth with his hand. Ryou appears to be angry… Sen said to Ryou that he should not have left his original place for no apparent reason. Because of his own ambitions which results in leaving for a better “master” (referring to company) is definitely a good idea, however, this kind of talk without any self-conscience, disgusting(? Sorry I don’t know the right word for it but it’s definitely not a good word) is the only word to describe it best. Do you know the meaning of being shameless?”

Ryou appearing to be guilty and looks away. Sen pulls Hana’s hand and tell her let’s go, although she looks pretty reluctant to leave Ryou alone. They appeared to be walking very fast and Hana asked if Sen is feeling uncomfortable. He stops and looks at the escalator (LOL!) and decides to use the stairs instead. Hana thanked him and asked if he was trying to cheer her up. Sen replies that he just want to say what he feels about Ryou’s unforgiveable attitude, and told Hana not to be so minded of Ryou’s words. Just when Hana started to think that Sen is actually quite a good person, he said that Hana is completely an idiot; a relationship between a boy and a girl will only create troubles, after admiration and being passionate, there is quarrelling and argument which is something that is stupid to the max. Hana’s face looks like she was dumbfounded lol! Sen then asked if it’s the same for her, and told her to use more of her brain cells. Hana seemed pretty pissed off by what he said to her, and thinks that he is proud. Sen: “The most respectful thing in this world would be the undying loyalty for master.” With this, he left Hana speechless.

End of Chapter 5!
